We're delighted to be able to offer two scholarships to African postgraduate students commencing their studies in 2025. 

CSAE MPhil Scholarship at Jesus College

This scholarship is open to candidates applying for the MPhil in Economics at the University of Oxford. Candidates must be nationals of an African country.

ELIGIBILITY AND HOW TO APPLY

Deadline: 28 January 2025

Applicants must follow the admissions process for the MPhil in Economics at the University of Oxford.

All successful eligible MPhil applicants who apply by the 28th January 2025 deadline are automatically considered for internal University funding from over 70 scholarship funds for which they meet the eligibility criteria.

Applicants must be a national from an African country and must begin their studies in 2025.

The funding deadline for all graduate courses in the Department of Economics is the 28th January 2025. Applications submitted after this date will not be considered for funding offered by Oxford. The candidate must also meet the criteria for funding set out in the University of Oxford’s Fees and Funding pages. There is no separate application process to be considered for this scholarship.

The Queen’s College Cyril and Phillis Long Scholarship in partnership with the Centre for the Study of African Economies

The Queen’s College Cyril and Phillis Long Scholarship will support one MPhil+DPhil in Economics, or one DPhil in Economics working on development, commencing study in 2025. Candidates must be nationals of an African country.

The Scholarship supports the course fee and a stipend for living costs. 

 

 

 

 

DURATION

The scholarship will support one candidate, commencing in 2025, for either:

  • One MPhil (2 years) + DPhil (3 years) studentship 

OR

  • One DPhil studentship (3 years)

The duration of the studentship will be for either three or five years, assuming standard periods of fee liability for the MPhil and/or DPhil.
